Kevin began working for Veterans United Home Loans in October 2010 at the Veterans United home office in Missouri. He transitioned to the San Diego branch in September 2012. Previously, he oversaw the production and pre-approval stages of the loan process and served as the point of contact for employees regarding product and guideline questions and interpretations. Today, he manages the San Diego branch. During his free time, he enjoys golfing and playing volleyball. He is an avid fan of the Missouri Tigers and likes watching college football and basketball.
Robert Meyer is a retired Command Master Chief of the United States Navy. He served 30 years with 12 of those years overseas. Now, in the mortgage industry, Robert is honored to be able to help his fellow veterans achieve the American Dream of homeownership. He believes in building lasting relationships with his customers and can offer a true understanding of the things veterans go through. When he’s not at work, Robert enjoys spending time with his wife and three kids, golfing and sharpening his history knowledge.
Caleb joined the United States Army when he was 18 years old. After graduating from dive school, he was stationed in Hawaii. While stationed there, Caleb deployed several times to Southeast Asia for body recovery operations hosted by JPAC (Joint POW-MIA Accounting Command). Now life has brought him to the San Diego area and he is honored to be in a position to help fellow veterans use their hard-earned VA home loan benefits. When he’s not at work, Caleb enjoys spending time with his wife, surfing, scuba-diving and reading.
Nick served 10 years of active duty in the United States Navy as a submarine electrician. After earning his college degree while on active duty, he went on to work for the Navy as a civilian nuclear test engineer at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard for three years before moving to San Diego. Today, he still serves in the Navy Reserves. Since entering the mortgage industry, Nick has used his military knowledge and experience to help his clients navigate through the homebuying process. He approaches each mortgage loan with the same attention to detail required in the nuclear industry. Nick understands how important it is for him to do his job right so his clients feel at ease throughout the process. Every client will receive a steady dose of thoughtfulness and southern hospitality while working with him. Outside of work, Nick enjoys spending time with his family, traveling the world, barbecues and college football – War Eagle!
Melody is a San Diego native with a homegrown personality. She is the daughter of an Air Force veteran as well as a granddaughter of a decorated Army veteran. Melody has more than 20 years of experience in corporate management and customer service. She is a firm believer in making everyone around her feel like family and strives to create a relaxed setting for her clients. Melody works meticulously to ensure a smooth process from start to homeownership and beyond. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her two beautiful daughters, baking and relaxing at the beach.
Kyle is an experienced Loan Officer at Veterans United Home Loans of San Diego and believes it is his honor and privilege to serve those who have defended our country. Kyle's unprecedented work ethic, dedication to understanding his client's unique needs and ability to walk them through each step of the home buying process have built him the reputation of a go-to, trusted partner. Whether he is helping a client buy their first home or their fifteenth home, Kyle takes full responsibility for ensuring everything rungs smoothly. Kyle’s favorite part of being a VA loan officer is the ability to make the dream of home ownership a reality for his clients because "you defended it, now you own it!" Mireyda was born and raised in southern California and has lived in San Diego since 2001. She worked in the banking industry since she was 19 and transitioned into mortgages exclusively in 2014. Her fiancé is in the Navy, and is very active in the military community. They bought their first home in 2016 using the VA home loan. She is passionate about educating veterans about how to use the benefit as well! During her free times she likes spending time with her family and dog, hiking, paddle boarding, watching college sports and trying new restaurants.
Marty Barnholtz is a loan officer at Veterans United Home Loans of San Diego. He’s lived in the San Diego area since 2012 and retired from the U.S. Navy after 30 years of service. As a retired Command Master Chief of the U.S. Navy, Marty is not only familiar with the military way of life, but also familiar with the VA Loan benefits service members have earned. Marty describes himself as a patriot and will fight for his homebuyers throughout the entire home loan process. When he’s not at work, Marty is spending time with his wife and three children and learning more about cars, computers and wine.
Michael is loan officer at Veterans United Home Loans of San Diego and a graduate of the University of Missouri. His father served in the Marine Corps for over 30 years and this has helped him understand the unique lifestyles of military families. Michael began his career in the banking industry then transitioned into mortgages at the Veterans United home office in Missouri before relocating to San Diego. He is very passionate about not only about working alongside active duty service members and Veterans, but doing so in a way that best serves their interests. Outside of work, Michael enjoys competitive weightlifting, cooking, and raising exotic reptiles.
Mariano has been working in the mortgage industry since May 2003. After 14 years in mortgage loan processing and 5+ years leading the Veterans United San Diego Operations team, he transitioned into his current role of Loan Officer in 2017. He prides himself on his friendly demeanor, a hands-on approach to problem solving, and always taking the time to carefully explain each step in the process. His extensive background in processing allows him to anticipate any challenges and address them in advance, ensuring smooth Closings every time. When away from the office, Mariano enjoys spending time with his wife and toddler son, playing disc golf, following the San Francisco Giants, and reading about economics and politics.
Josh is originally from Kailua-Kona, Hawaii and has lived in San Diego for the past 4 years. Previously he worked in a phone sales role for over two years and has transitioned to Veterans United to help establish better relationships with the initial contact of our areas veterans. Josh is dedicated to helping veterans achieve their dream of homeownership by providing outstanding customer service and ensuring the home buying process in easy from start to finish. During his free time, he enjoys playing volleyball, basketball, going to the beach, and spending time with his friends and family. He is a passionate sports fan of the Missouri Tigers and enjoys watching football and basketball.
Jason transitioned from active duty in the United States Marine Corps to Loan Officer at Veterans United Home Loans in April 2015. He wanted to use his mortgage processing and business background to serve those that served alongside him. He enjoys educating Veterans about their benefit, and unlocking the door to home ownership. Jason has been married to his wife Madie since 2012. He enjoys running, going to the beach, watching football, and going to concerts.
Bryan was born and raised in Pensacola, Florida. In August 2015 he moved from Honolulu, Hawaii to join the Veterans United Home Loans of San Diego team and assist in the Marketing Department. Since then he has moved to the Production Department and has a passion to help military families achieve their dreams of homeownership. In his free time he enjoys Padres baseball, playing golf, BBQing and country music concerts.
Merry is a dedicated Loan Officer at Veterans United Home Loans of San Diego and a graduate of the University of California San Diego. With an extensive background in finance and nonprofit work, Merry is uniquely positioned to make sure each of her clients feel comfortable and confident during the entire homebuying process. Merry serves on the Board of Trustees at the Museum of Photographic Arts and is the Chair of the Development Committee. In her free time, she enjoys going on hikes with husband Carlos and their dog Kodiak, cooking and gardening.
Kristine is a Senior Transaction Coordinator with over 10 years of mortgage experience, with the last 4 years here at Veterans United San Diego. Kristine’s father, father in law and brother all have proudly served in the U.S Navy, allowing her to understand our veteran’s needs. She is honored to serve those who have served our country and their families. Outside of work, she enjoys her time with her husband and three children.
Nicole is an Account Manager at Veterans United Home Loans of San Diego. She is a Kansas native and worked at Veterans United Home Loans, in our home office, as an Account Manager and member of the Veterans United Foundation committee before joining the San Diego Branch in 2015. She is passionate about using her skills and knowledge in her role to help active members of the military community and veterans achieve home ownership. In her time away from the office, Cole enjoys spending time with her husband and kids, beach walks, or relaxing with a good book.
Alix is originally from the East Coast, born and raised in Delaware. Her Husband is an Active Duty U.S Navy Diver, and his career is what led them to San Diego! A former Nursing Student, and Miss America Organization competitor (carrying out hours of community service) - she has always had a heart to serve others. Being a military spouse has brought a significant understanding and strong sense of compassion for her clients, as she can empathize with their situations. Outside of work, you can usually find her figure skating, performing aerial circus arts, or at the gym.
Mike was born and raised in mid-Missouri. He graduated from the University of Missouri in 2012 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Personal Finance. In July of 2016 he moved from Columbia Missouri to San Diego to join the VUSD Branch Team. He enjoys mountain biking, disc golf, camping and falling off of his surf board.

Estefany was born and raised in New Jersey and is a military spouse to an active duty United States Marine. During her time being a military spouse, she has worked closely with the military community by volunteering her time to her husband’s command and serving families while their Marines are deployed as a Family Readiness Assistant. She prides herself with ensuring that every detail of her work produces an effective and genuine concern for each of her clients. Outside of work, Estefany enjoys spending time with her family, taking long walks on summer nights, and hiking different trails with her dogs.
Lara was born and raised in San Diego. Her father served in the United States Navy for 20 years and her mother has been a nurse at the VA Hospital in La Jolla for 30 years. Lara was working as a hairstylist for nine years until an opportunity opened up at Veterans United for a Receptionist position. She has since transitioned into the role as our VUSD Office Manager. Lara believes in our mission of “enhancing lives everyday not only for her co-workers but for veterans and their families, not just in the office but in the community. Outside of work, Lara enjoys spending time with her husband, volunteering at Church, reading, and watching HGTV shows.

Luke Turner is a Virginia native transplanted to California by his service in the United States Marine Corps. He spent twelve years in the Marine Corps. He loves being around military members and educating them on all things that will have a positive impact on their lives. Luke is passionate about getting his fellow service members into the American Dream of homeownership. When he is not at work, Luke enjoys spending time with his wife, Abby, who he has been married to since 2012 and riding his motorcycle with fellow veterans.
