My first experience with VU was phenomenal. My second loan experience with them was a bit of a let down. They charged me fees on things that I don't think they should have. All of the small fees add up. When someone is buying a home, they need to save as much as possible. There are way too many unnecessary fees, perhaps VU could downsize its unnecessary personnel and programs, and that would allow it to cut out some of the fees.

Concerns about fees are important. You should always feel clear about what you’re being charged for and why. While many costs in a mortgage transaction are standard or third-party related, that does not lessen the impact they have on you. Listen. If you are serious about owning a home, Veterans United is definitely a preferred option, in my opinion. The steps it took to purchasing our home was frustrating to say the least. In my wife and I case, we were purchasing from our landlord, so a realtor wasn't necessary. However, gathering the necessary documents, coordinating with the different agencies like appraisals, home inspections, insurance, title company, and loads of paperwork, signatures, and questions are still very much a part of the process. Our team, Nick Holman, Courtney Gully, Francie Greene, and the rest of their supporting members were there from the first phone until the closing on our home. They fielded every question, listened to all of our frustration, guided us through the whole process step by step, and we're encouraging, patient, professional, and, most of all, very polite, friendly, and engaging whenever we were in contact with them. I mean they kept in touch by phone, text, and email. Even sent us mail. Who does that in this technology age? Seriously, they were the best team my wife and I could ask for in communicating with us and our landlord to make this dream a reality!! Veterans United handled my initial home loan and also took care of my interest rate reduction loan refinancing.
